INITIATIVES

We aim for the triple bottom line, focusing on people and the planet as a for profit business. From water conservation in brewing, to sustainable food sourcing, to composting and waste elimination, we’ve adopted practices that allow us to have the smallest possible footprint, while at the same time offering something delicious. Our goal is to make it easier for people to do something beneficial for our community, our waterways, our air, and our future while offering a space and a product that brings people together.

Boat Day Kolsch is Forward Brewing’s flagship beer. It is a lightly dry hopped, crushable brew, designed for days spent on the water, which makes it a perfect fit for a collaboration with Fish For A Cure (F4AC).

Save the Bay IPA

Our Save the Bay IPA is a collaboration with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and HASI, an Annapolis-based climate investment firm. 10% of all sales from this beer will go to CBF in support of their mission to fight for effective, science-based solutions to the pollution degrading the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams.

Forward Brewing will donate 10% of sales from the Save the Bay IPA to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation with a minimum of $5,000 and no maximum from April 1 – August 31, 2023. Includes all states except Illinois, Hawaii, Alaska.

Forward Momentum Initiative

As a brewery nestled in a historic Chesapeake Bay community, there are steps we can take to help clean our water, prevent pollution and waste, and build a livable future. We are doing things the way we believe they should be done, whether through sustainable ingredient sourcing, waste composting, or water reuse.

But our practices can only reach so far. Our Momentum Initiative is meant to amplify our impact by motivating other businesses and helping individuals adopt environmentally beneficial practices and reduce their footprints.

We are currently working with the Severn River Association to raise funds with a goal of planting 5 million oysters in the Severn River.

In-house sales from our Annapolis Boat Kolsch, as well as our Sailor Oyster Beer, are kicking off this fundraiser. Stay tuned on opportunities to help support our goal, or donate directly to the Severn River Association here.
